Which anti-virus when you are ( still) on Dial-up?

I have Mcaffee suite, but because I am still on dial-up, updating takes forever, and my computer disconnects downloading after 30 mins. I guess I will need to purchase on over the counter anti-virus, spyware, firewall etc. Which is the best all-in-one to purchase from a store, and what should I expect to pay?

To prevent the disconnects go to the tools/internet options/connections/advanced. You can extend the idle disconnect time here. During downloads the pc often assumes that it is idle.

almost all the anti virus will eventually download updates and having a dial up sure is hard.. but, u can switch the settings so that only the priority updates are the one u should download.. buying a new anti virus will only cost u money when there are a lot out der that are for free.. and good.. mcaffee is very propitiatory.. i hope i helped...
I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps.
If you are using dial up, then any antivirus etc you use will be slow to download the updates.

Try to use AVAST!

Avast downloads virus signatures in small chunks which lessens your bandwidth usage...

It'll just automatically download updates from time to time if it detects that you have internet connection.

Download AVG FREE EDITION - updates itself daily and is better than Norton or McAfee - they are to slow and use to many PC resources.
