I just got a bubble down on the bottom of my screen that says my computer is running low on virtual memory. When I hit ctrl, alt, delete it says my comp. is running at about 90% capacity. I have used McAffee to scan for viruses(no results) as well as AdAware and SpyBot for spyware searches(no results) and my comp. is still running extremely slow. What can I do to fix my problem??
Low Virtual Memory?anti virus
You do not have enough RAM to support the programs you are running. In order to try and make up for this the system is spooling stuff off to the hard drive. In your case, this is still not enough. You need more RAM. Also the McAfee may actually be the cause of your slow down as opposed to preventing it.
Low Virtual Memory?auto protect
It generally happens bcoz of insufficiant RAM memory. some bigger applictions requires more memory than RAM. then this OS has facility to use some part of HD as virtual memory.
obviously this works slower than RAM. generally the virtual memory is set twice that of RAM but u can change it in windows. Mycomputer(right click)%26gt;properties%26gt;advanced %26gt;performance(settings)%26gt;advanced tab
there u'll see virtual memory option just set INITIAL size bigger than whatever is at present.
